Hartley's Intersect refers to an early version of the Intersect which was used to transform Hartley Winterbottom into Alexei Volkoff. This Intersect was developed and used on Hartley in the 1980's.
History[]
In "Chuck Versus the Cliffhanger" Hartley revealed that he was a scientist eagerly signed up for an undercover mission that needed a scientist, that he wasn't ready for. He convinced his best friend, and fellow scientist, Stephen Bartowski to use his Intersect software to create a new personality, Alexei Volkoff, to help him with the mission.
The mission was for Hartley to go under cover for a short period of time as Volkoff, an arms dealer, where he would use his new persona to collect the DNA samples of fellow arms dealers which could be used in the The Norseman device, which was developed alongside the Intersect.
The idea was to threaten the arms dealers as a way to stop them practising their trade. Something went wrong with the Intersect and Hartley became Volkoff, completely forgetting his real identity and slowly becoming the world's most dangerous man.
In "Chuck Versus the Cliffhanger", whilst Volkoff is in transport to a CIA prison, Clyde Decker uses a device which removed Hartley's Intersect from Volkoff's mind, returning him back to his true identity for the first time in thirty years.
The Intersect[]
The Intersect was developed in the 1980s, long before the Original or first Intersect was made for the government. All though we don't see much function of this Intersect, except the Volkoff profile in action, it doesn't seem to provide flashes or moves for the Human Intersect.
