Chuck Wiki

The Phalanx XR-12 is a fictitious 1980s era computer featured in Chuck Versus the First Fight. It only accepted unique triangular floppy discs, something Chuck remarked upon when Morgan suggested it might be something they could sell, "Are you joking? Nobody's gonna buy a Phalanx XR-12 computer. I mean, the thing only takes triangle-shaped disks."

Just one XR-12 is known to still be in existence, after the computer located in Stephen Bartowski's Secret Base was destroyed by Alexei Volkoff and Mary Bartowski. This remaining computer is said to be located in London, United Kingdom, in the possession of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).

  • The fictitious triangular discs used by the XR-12 are highly improbable in real life, and the drive featured in the episode is a standard 5-1/4" floppy disk drive.

Note: The disks are not physically impossible, but they would be extremely impractical and an inefficient use of space. The actual disk would have to have a radius less than the length of a line from the geometric center of the triangle to the center point of the closest leg.

  • A TRS-80 Model 4 plays the part of a Phalanx XR-12 computer.
